A classic among hats, the tricorne has its flap raised on three sides, hence its name. Customisable: leather colour and, of course, size!

There are props that set a character, an atmosphere, in an instant. The hat is one of them. You could be wearing a plain shirt and trousers, but put a hat on your head and you're instantly identifiable!

The tricorn has a long history, dating back to the English Revolution, when cavalry units decided to raise the brims of their hats to improve visibility on the battlefield. Quickly popularised, the tricorne became not only a military hat but also a town hat, until it went into decline in 1770. Although it is still closely associated with piracy and the maritime world, it was the most fashionable headgear in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.

The model we're offering here is made from vegetable-tanned leather with a patina and assembled by hand. Unlike felt, it will keep its shape even in the heaviest downpours. We make our tricorns in the traditional way, in just two parts: the flaps and the shell. The shell is a seamless, moulded leather half-sphere. It adapts smoothly to your head, distributing the weight of the tricorn more evenly and offering greater comfort.

This model is entirely engraved with Arabesque designs. Let yourself be captivated by the arabesque pattern, an elegant dance of sinuous lines and intertwining curves. Inspired by Eastern artistic traditions and later carried over into the French Renaissance, this design transforms each piece of leather into a mesmerising work of art. Imagine yourself wandering through the bustling markets of the old town, surrounded by carpets and mosaics adorned with refined motifs, passing through the salons of a French manor house under Louis XV, or sailing on a French naval vessel, on its way to fight the English. The Arabesque pattern is timeless, adding a touch of sophistication to the tricorne without overpowering it.

This Tricorn comes in 7 leather colours: black, chestnut, blue, green, plum, brown or red.
Size: available in sizes 54 to 64.
Feathers: a plume lives up to its name, adding a lot to the overall look. Find our feathers in our boutique.
Type of leather: vegetable-tanned cowhide.
Origin of leather: France, Spain.

Like all our products, your Tricorn will be made to order, especially for you. The shades of colour may therefore be slightly different from those shown in the photos, which are only examples that have already been made (and sold). Would you like a custom Tricorn ? Maintenance

Depending on your use and the conditions (hot sun, rain), you can increase the life of your bottle by maintaining it once a year (for intensive use) with a colourless wax specifically designed for the maintenance of vegetable-tanned leather, which can be found in the equestrian department or in our shop. If your leather gets wet (rain, a fall in a puddle, a mud fight) or muddy, start by letting it dry naturally. Then remove any traces of dirt with a slightly damp cotton cloth. Finally, give it a little nourishment.

Payment

Any order not paid for within two weeks will be cancelled. Orders paid by cheque or bank transfer will take longer to process.

Shipping

Each piece is made to order by myself in my workshop in Alsace. This requires a lead time that depends on other orders and my travel to events. Although I try to do my best, a little patience is necessary. If your need is urgent, please consult our events calendar to choose one of our stock items or contact me directly before ordering to find out if your deadline is feasible.

Delivery by La Poste from 2 €. I only use the Post Office parcel service, the only one available on my hill on the edge of the forest.
