There are props that set a character, an atmosphere, in an instant. The hat is one of them. You could be wearing a plain shirt and trousers, but put a hat on your head and you're instantly recognisable!

The Musketeer, or Gascon, is a hat inspired by the characters of the same name, and has a distinctive silhouette with its wide brim, raised flap and protruding buckle. Of course, the Musketeer is perfectly suited to many other costumes, including those of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, spadassins, mercenaries, adventurers, noblemen, aristocrats and pirates!

The model we're offering here is unpatterned, made from vegetable-tanned leather, patinated and assembled by hand. Unlike felt, it will keep its shape even under the heaviest of downpours. A strip of soft leather is laced inside for comfort. A more rigid strap with a buckle is fitted to the hull to hold a plume, possibly a flail holder or a sheath for a throwing knife.

This Musketeer hat comes in 7 leather colours: black, chestnut, blue, green, plum, brown or red.
Size: available in sizes 54 to 64.
Buckles: three different models, each in two colours.
Feathers: a plume lives up to its name, adding a lot to the overall look. Find our feathers in our boutique.
Flap: left or right, we recommend on the side where you hold the sword.
Type of leather: vegetable-tanned cowhide.
Origin of leather: France, Spain.

Like all our products, your Musketeer hat will be made to order, especially for you. The shades of colour may therefore be slightly different from those shown in the photos, which are only examples that have already been made (and sold). Would you like a custom Musketeer hat ? No problem at all! Contact us so that we can draw up a quote for you after studying the feasibility of the project.

Maintenance

Depending on your use and the conditions (hot sun, rain), you can increase the life of your bottle by maintaining it once a year (for intensive use) with a colourless wax specifically designed for the maintenance of vegetable-tanned leather, which can be found in the equestrian department or in our shop. If your leather gets wet (rain, a fall in a puddle, a mud fight) or muddy, start by letting it dry naturally. Then remove any traces of dirt with a slightly damp cotton cloth. Finally, give it a little nourishment.

Payment

Any order not paid for within two weeks will be cancelled. Orders paid by cheque or bank transfer will take longer to process.

Shipping

Each piece is made to order by myself in my workshop in Alsace. This requires a lead time that depends on other orders and my travel to events. Although I try to do my best, a little patience is necessary. If your need is urgent, please consult our events calendar to choose one of our stock items or contact me directly before ordering to find out if your deadline is feasible.

Delivery

Delivery by La Poste from 2 €. I only use the Post Office parcel service, the only one available on my hill on the edge of the forest.

Exchanges and returns

All my leather items are personalised to your specifications (size, colour, pattern) and are therefore "made to measure". I do not accept any returns or exchanges. Naturally, I will make any necessary adjustments and repairs free of charge.

Items offered without personalisation (legendary artefacts, items without variations) or items not made in my workshop, such as feathers, buckles or vials, can be returned within 14 days in accordance with the Hamon law and our returns policy.
